Soft pastel is a dry medium composed of pure fine art pigment. It is comprised of the tiniest amount of binder to maintain its stick form. This allows vibrant, beautiful colors to saturate a painting. 

Because it is a pure pigment with minimal binders, there is “dust,” or rather pigment that can come off of a painting. This is normal for this type of medium. Utilizing the correct paper allows the soft pastel to grip and reduces dust.

Never directly touch the painting; this will cause the soft pastel to smudge. Hold the corners of the painting or edges when transferring to a frame. Always wait until you have your frame before removing your painting from its packaging. When framing your soft pastel art, there must be a “spacer”, such as a mat, between the painting and the glass. This prevents the painting from smudging against the glass. 

Never spray your painting with water or cleaner.

All acrylic paintings have been varnished. Meaning a layer has been applied to the painting, protecting the pigments, protecting against moisture, and preventing aging.
